BCA Partners with WLFJ (HIS radio) for Feed The Need Fundraiser

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

BCA is pleased to announce that we once again have an opportunity to partner with WLFJ (HIS Radio). This time, it’s through a Public Service Announcement (PSA) that they’ll be running over the next several weeks to promote our Feed the Need Packing Day on December 8th. They will also include our event on their official Family Calendar. HIS Radio has been wonderful to work with over the past few years, as they have helped us get the word out about BCA through announcements about our Open Houses, various events, the opening of our high school and general information about our wonderful school that has reached so many prospective families. HIS Radio is a station that is beloved by many listeners here in the Upstate, and their influence is widespread. BCA is privileged to be working with them once again. BCA High School Students visit City Hall

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

Our BCA 9th grade high school students recently had an opportunity to visit City Hall and the district offices of Congressman Trey Gowdy, Councilwoman Amy Ryberg Doyle, U.S. Senators Tim Scott, and Lindsay Graham. It was a chance for them to get a better understanding of how our local and federal governments operate and to learn from key staff members, the roles and responsibilities of elected officials. This visit is part of BCA’s Technology and Career Exploration program that allows our students to get valuable exposure to key businesses and organizations here in Greenville. It’s a unique high school model that benefits the student because in addition to getting quality classroom training, they are able to start exploring their gifts and talents in the early stages of their academic careers through these visits.

Visiting Author Encourages Children to Follow Their Dreams

Greenville, South Carolina (October 27, 2017) – Usborne Books & More is pleased to bring Michelle Nelson-Schmidt to visit thousands of children in Upstate South Carolina October 30- November 3, 2017. She will present two presentations at Bridgeway Christian Academy on Tuesday, October 31 at 1:00 p.m. (Elementary) and 2:30 p.m. (Middle/High School)

Ms. Nelson-Schmidt took the kind of chance that her book Jonathan James and the Whatif Monster encourages when she headed to art school despite opposition from her family who advocated a more conventional career. After working hard for years as a graphic designer, she became an accomplished book author/illustrator of six picture books. Michelle is in high demand as a presenter at schools, libraries and festivals having visited over 700 schools in 35 states in the past 6 years. She is thrilled to be able to share her work and her message with children across the country. The many letters she receives from child fans who’ve made a “pinky promise” with her to follow their dreams are a testament to her success in inspiring them. It is not unusual for principals and educators to describe her as the best author they’ve ever had visit. Her enthusiasm, passion and energy easily captivates her audiences.

Ms. Nelson-Schmidt’s first two books grew from her pet portraitures. Cats! Cats! And Dogs! Dogs! quickly became best-sellers for Usborne Books & More. Jonathan James and the Whatif Monster proved to be an even greater success helping children face fears and try hard. Bob is a Unicorn followed with its inspirational message to be yourself while Dog and Mouse delivers a encouraging story of finding and being a friend. It is not surprising that Cordelia, a modern-day fable about believing in yourself and your dreams, has met with the same success now familiar to this author. A companion novel called Beatrice ; A Tale of Magic, Truth and Connection is currently in the works. Adorable plush toys of several characters – the Whatif Monster, Bob, and Cordelia – are also available.

Upstate South Carolina visits are expected to fill rapidly. For more information about Michelle Nelson-Schmidt’s work visit her website at www.whatifmonsters.com/school-visits/ Author Schmidt’s book will be on sale at the BCA Book Fair, November 16, 17, 20 and 21.

BCA Partners with Feed The Need To Feed Hungry Children

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

On Friday, October 6, 2017, BCA officially launched it’s Feed the Need Campaign that is not only going to help with scholarships and curriculum enhancements for our school, but we will have the opportunity to pack 10,000 meals for hungry children in Greenville and also in Haiti. We are excited for the chance to ‘foster community and world-wide outreach’, which is part of BCA’s vision statement, through this exciting endeavor. We also have a local foundation who has agreed to provide an $80,000 match if we reach our goal!

With nearly 200 people in attendance, we cast the vision to our school families. Many of them signed up that night to commit to raising money among their family, friends, co-workers and others in their sphere of influence. If you want to be part of this exciting campaign, you can check out the link below or text BCA to 71777 to make a donation or become a fundraiser yourself.
